The Beauty Project

About The Beauty Project

PhotoSensitive, in partnership with St. Mildred’s-Lightbourn School (SMLS), is turning its collective lens to the interpretation of beauty. The Beauty Project invites students to consider the true meaning of “beauty” in the world around them through black and white photography. This opportunity will engage students an authentic learning experience with real world applications and provide a vehicle to showcase their creative work.

This project is looking to encourage hundreds of students to look past the media’s standard definition of beauty. The CIS students have been given the opportunity to find and capture moments that reflect the true essence of beauty. This project will give the students an opportunity to consider what beauty actually means to them, and how beauty is not always something that can only be seen on the surface.

Submissions will be accepted from September 2012 through March 2013. All of the student photographs and written captions submitted to PhotoSensitive will appear in a Web Gallery during this time. All of the images will appear on the PhotoSensitive website and a selection of the images will be exhibited at Brookfield Place (formerly BCE Place), which is located in downtown Toronto.
