Born in Toronto, Bernard Weil has been a staff photographer at The Toronto Star since 1986, covering events ranging from a cholera epidemic in Peru to fashion in Paris and Milan. Given a Kodak Instamatic by his parents, Bernard discovered his passion for photography at four years of age. A graduate of Sheridan College's applied photography program, Bernard was named 1986 Photographer of the Year by the Ontario News Photographers' Association. He has won eight CP Photo of the Month awards and has won the ONPA Pictures of the Year competition many times. He has been recognized by the Society of Newspaper and Design and by CAPIC.
